What habit formation is and isn't about. Why you should care about it

This has been true for me, more consciously so since December 2023. I have made a bunch of lifestyle changes starting with quitting chai!
A lot has gone out the door with that chai consuming habit. I drink more water now. I love bread, but I wanted to bake softer bread, so I’ve started baking bread with Korean and Japanese flour at home. Did I tell you that my tummy doesn’t bloat like it used to?
I have increased my protein and fat intake, as well as started exercising every day. I’m feeling good. My mind feels clear. I also have worked on my money beliefs, as well as changing my sentiments toward Hong Kong, the place where massive growth has happened to be at the deepest levels! Here’s that post, in case you missed out!
It’s all about habit formation because it transcends your identity and evolves you into a new creature! You don’t go to the gym, or eat fewer calories so that you get to a certain weight or physique. That shouldn’t be the goal.
We are creatures of habit. Looking into and changing your habit - what you do on a regular basis so that it becomes second nature or religion - is what transforms you, bit by bit, day by day, into a new evolved being.
And that’s what the pursuit of personal development involves. That’s what it demands of you! You have to know clearly why you are doing what you are doing, and you must do it for no one else but yourself, even if it’s for the sake of doing it. Even when you see no immediate results.

I’m thrilled, honored, and delighted to conduct this in-person and in-house workshop with PEME, a youth organization of dedicated young professionals who volunteer their precious time to something greater than them - projects that empower ethnic minorities in Hong Kong.
I want to show you what is possible FOR YOU if you keep putting in the effort and dare to love yourself deeply. Personal development is not sexy. Yes, that poster is sexy to me. The inner work is anything but sexy. It’s doing the boring, the mundane, the put-off-able because it’s necessary for you.
We live our lives based on values. It’s important to know what your values are. I want to live a long healthy life. I have things I want to do. Retirement is not a word in my dictionary. I can’t see myself not doing what I’m doing right now in order to have a healthy body and sound mind.
