Are You Among The 1-2%?
Measuring personal growth is important to your success in all areas of your life
Do you sweat the small stuff?
As of writing this, it’s 4pm on a very hot Sunday in Hong Kong. I think the extreme heat has helped me lose my appetite and I’ve gone without food for 26 hours at this point. I’m keeping myself well hydrated. I added a tiny pinch of salt to my water to curb the slight headache I’m feeling.
I’m not hungry. I’ll see how long I will go without food. It’s taken me days to build up to my first 24 hour fast. I should mention that I’m on day five of my menstrual cycle. I want multiple things from fasting such a the little belly I’ve grown in the past couple years, thinking and processing space after bombarding my neurodivergent introverted highly sensitive self with so much information from listening to interviews of extraordinary people. I want to know what’s next for me.
I think your why will keep you on track. So you may ask what (all) you’re looking to accomplish through fasting. I’m doing it for experimental purposes and then I write about it so you’re watching the lab rat - me - in action. Lol. Thank you for being witness to my journey.
Okay. If you’ve been following my content, I have to tell you, you’re among the 2% of people who are looking to create positive change in your life. It’s also possible that you’re among the 1% because you go the extra mile, think deeper, think different - perhaps too different to mainstream.
You and your ideas are “too big, crazy and out-there”. Perhaps you’re neurodivergent. You feel like no one understands you, so you may feel lonely. The struggle is real. Yes, I’ve been bingeing on podcasts and the more I listen to them, the more I understand my world.
I’m obsessed with personal discovery and development. I’m a life long learner. Learning about how this body function and how humans behave fascinates me endlessly. Learning, studying, observing, experimenting, detoxing, testing, sharing - this is how I’m living my days.
This is an invitation to you too. I mean, you have to invite yourself to be a keen participant in your own life and see what happens just from doing that.
Have you felt called to share your story but didn’t feel to sure about yourself? Start there. Don’t give up on yourself because what you do matters.
I’m at a place where I want to have conversations with people on my podcast about the elephants in the rooms that they can clearly see. My podcast is called The Relationship Academy. It believe that in talking about the things that cause us to feel negative emotions, we remove shame around them, we find ease, peace, community and support. It’s the essence of relationships. A relationship should be a safe space between to people regardless of the type of relationship - friendship, parent-child, brother-sister, or colleagues.
If you feel safe talking about something that is on your mind, that is a space that honors your thoughts and individuality. I think change can only happen at the individual level. You are that 1-2% that think about the things that matter.
And pouring your energy in to what matters to you is what makes your life fulfilling and purposeful. We’re at this crazy time in history when everything that could go wrong HAS gone wrong.
Politics is everywhere it shouldn’t be and how it has absolutely ruined everything. Our power lies in personal choice. I know it’s hard. But that’s the kind of stuff the 1-2% are made of.
Are you that? Let me know in the comments.
If you’re interested to be interviewed on The Relationship Academy podcast, then please fill out this form. If you know other people who might seem a good fit, please do me a favor and also share this form with them.
Thank you for doing whatever it is that you’re doing. It matters.
