Hey there.
Lately I’ve been podcast binge-listening. I love writing, but now I’m at this place where there’s something that needs to come to the surface. And I need quiet in order for that thing to come to the surface.
I’ve been listening to my body’s needs. And I’m struggling to bring myself to writing. So I’m doing what I’m more drawn to. Which is listening to podcasts. And one of the first podcasts that clicked for me was the one on Diary of a CEO by Steven Bartlett. He interviewed Dr. Mindy Pelz who works miracles with fasting! She’s the author of “Fast Like a Girl”. And then I went down the rabbit hole of learning more from Mindy Pelz. And here’s what I found!
Intermittent Fasting
I went down the rabbit hole of intermittent fasting (IF), which is what Dr. Mindy Pelz talks about. And as I was listening to her, I realized what I was doing just from listening to my body.
I’ve reduced or removed many “things” from my life such as social media, distractions, noise, news, TV, certain foods, and some people. I don’t see people as things. Change takes time, so these detoxes have happened over a period of time. So it’s a second time I’m giving IF a shot. I want to see if I can gradually lose a bit of my belly fat, as well as if I can bring myself to a full-blown 3-day water fast.
So far I’ve dropped a kilogram. I’m happy. I’ve switched to baking sourdough bread. I love bread, so I might as well eat something that’s also good for my gut.
Fun sourdough facts: Prebiotics are the other half to good gut health and sourdough bread has plenty of it. Prebiotics are able to survive the baking process, as they are not affected by high heat. They are a type of fiber which our gut bacteria uses as a food source. When the bacteria in our guts feed on these prebiotics, they release nutrients to the body. Prebiotics essentially work like a fertilizer for the friendly bacteria in our guts.
I go down rabbit holes, watch the videos, listen to the podcasts, bake the sourdough bread so that you don’t have to! And then I get to share them with you!
Slowing Down
This is why I’m slowing down. Too much noise can distract me. That’s not something I can afford because I love myself enough to pursue something that will bring me much clarity. So I’ve been able to maintain a 10/14, 9/15, 8/16 hour fasting windows. The last thing I want is to use food as a means of distraction. It’ll completely defeat the purpose.
What’s happened as a result of all the above is that I’ve gone back to podcasting, something I truly enjoyed doing before I was writing my book. I’m always addressing the elephants in the room that I see. I got my partner, Todd, involved in a couple of the podcasts. We just recorded episodes 24 and 26. Feel free to have a listen to them on the links below.
As I learn about myself, I continue to share my understanding with you. For instance, I’m an auditorily oriented person. I listen to 2 -hour long podcasts while I’m runny errands, cooking and doing house chores. On the contrary, I’m the slowest reader. so reading is not my best way to absorb information.
I’m an ideas person. I love brainstorming and coming up with solutions. I love having deep meaningful conversations. All of that exchange happens in the conversations on podcasts.
I love learning about the world I’m in - especially with regards to self-love and relationships because they are so closely linked. One affects the other. So listening to podcasts where guests with 10 - 20 years of experience in their field is a no brainer. I am going to learn something that comes out of their mouth!
So listening to podcast interviews, I figured out, are my new way to function in this creative space. I can then share my understanding with you through platforms like this one or Spotify.
If you listen to any of the episodes, I’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback. If you have a topic in mind that you’d like me or us to talk about, by all means, let us know.
How Surrender Works
I always had a vision for me, and for us as a couple. Todd and I talked about dating and relationships when we were friends. I wanted Todd and I to do something together to help people find success in dating. We used to and still do brainstorm with each other how to resolve this dating crisis. We talk about this on the couch, at the dining table, on our long walks or bus rides. What has happened through having those conversations is that Todd has got more comfortable with being recorded, as on a podcast. He’s certainly not that guy who will get on a stage and talk. That’s me. But it thrills me when he wants to get involved in building that vision together.
We’ve been together for 4.5 years, and so far this vision has developed into a few podcast episodes. I have no attachment to how that vision unfolds and builds. I trust him.
Through my experiences, I’ve learned that this is how manifesting works. Keep doing the work, and stay detached from your idea of how it should be or unfold, because you’re now working with the universe. You are not alone.
Have a good day!
Neha
P.S.: If you’re a podcast listener, could you take a moment to follow me on The Relationship Academy?
Awesome read Neha. I have to catch up on this. Life is crazy. I just got back from the USA and every other week traveling because we are almost done with the immigration process. I have got to get settled in again. I am glad you’re going this direction. Another great move. It’s a very effective way to get your message out to the world. All the best my friend.
