The Secret Houses in a Vedic Astrological Chart
Why they are the houses that support our foundation.
The numbers that you see in the above chart represent the houses. These do not change. AND, more importantly, you will not see them specified in every chart like they are above. This chart tells us what each of the twelve houses represents.
The first house represents a person's physical appearance, personality, and the first impression they make on others. It's considered the foundation of the birth chart, setting the stage for the rest of the life story. The sign occupying the first house, along with the planets within it, influences a person's physique, demeanor, and overall how they are perceived by the world.
The second house signifies wealth, family, values, and possessions. It represents an individual's financial status, accumulation of wealth, and how they view and manage resources. The 2nd house also reflects one's speech, dietary habits, and family lineage. Additionally, it can indicate a person's personality, social status, and overall outlook on life.
The third house represents communication, courage, creativity, and short journeys. It also encompasses siblings, immediate surroundings, and early education, as well as skills and practical abilities. Essentially, it reflects how a person interacts with their environment, expresses themselves, and takes action in daily life.
The fourth house signifies home, family, emotional stability, and ancestral roots. It also represents the mother and the foundation of one's inner life, including mental peace and overall happiness.
The fifth house primarily represents creativity, children, and intelligence. It also encompasses romantic relationships, higher education, speculation, and the fruits of good deeds. The 5th house indicates past good deeds and the wisdom and intuition gained from previous lives.
The sixth house represents work, health, routine, and service. It also indicates a person's approach to daily tasks, potential health challenges, and the type of work they are most suited for. Additionally, it can reveal aspects of personal service, the role of pets, and even potential disputes and conflicts.
The seventh house, also known as the "House of Partnerships," represents marriage, relationships, and open enemies. It signifies the nature of one's spouse, business partners, and other individuals with whom one enters into agreements or partnerships. Additionally, it can indicate how one interacts with the world and navigates contractual bonds.
The eighth house signifies deep transformation, hidden knowledge, and psychological exploration. It's associated with inheritance, secrets, mysteries, and the substantial realities of life, often dealing with unseen or obscure aspects of life. This house is also linked to death, longevity, and spiritual growth, and is considered one of the most powerful and mysterious houses in astrology.
The ninth house represents one's spiritual journey, higher education, philosophy, and the influence of teachers and gurus. It is considered a house of good fortune, dharma, and righteousness. Essentially, it indicates how a person seeks truth, meaning, and purpose in life, and how their past actions shape their present destiny.
The tenth house represents a person's profession, career, social status, public image, and achievements. It's considered a crucial house in analyzing one's life path and accomplishments. The tenth house also reflects one's ambitions, responsibilities, and potential for success.
The eleventh house represents gains, rewards, fulfillment of desires, and expansion through association. It signifies material and non-material rewards, including financial success, friendships, and social connections that lead to opportunities. The 11th house is associated with the fulfillment of aspirations, dreams, and ambitions in life. It also reflects the fruits of one's actions, intentions, and relationships.
The twelfth house represents endings, loss, expenditure, seclusion, and spiritual seeking. It's associated with the final stage of the birth cycle, leading towards liberation and the after-death state. This house can also indicate areas of hidden enemies, secret affairs, and introspection.
Of all the houses, the houses numbered 1, 4, 7 and 10 are the most central to our existence - our physical self (1), our home or family (4), people we partner with (7), and our profession (10). Are these the foundation of our life?
Now for the most important part of this post. Why are houses 1, 5 and 9 the Dharma houses?
The first, fifth and ninth houses uphold the houses 1, 4, 7 and 10. Without their support, our foundation will fall apart.
So why are houses numbered 1, 5 and 9 the Dharma houses? The Dharma houses, represent the soul's path and purpose - their DHARMA. They symbolize the spiritual direction, guiding one towards righteous action and understanding of one's life's meaning. These houses are also associated with luck and positive karma. They are related with the sense of duty, mission in life, the way the soul progresses in the spiritual evolution, the philosophy of life, religion, spirituality, type of worship, spiritual teachers and learning, honesty and moral values, These houses help individuals understand their unique Dharma, find their purpose, and follow a path that aligns with their soul's true intentions.
